Christiane K. Alsop

Christiane K. Alsop grew up in Germany, worked as a bookseller in Darmstadt, studied psychology in Hamburg, got her PhD in Berlin, and today lives with her family on Boston’s North Shore. She researches and writes about love, life away from home, and the lingering effects of Nazism on subsequent generations of Germans.

Her personal essay, Presumed Guilty, was judged a Notable Essay by Best American Essays of 2006.

At River House in Beverly she runs a weekly storytelling group.
